Sunday Shooters Christmas Party

Like the rest of my weekends, last Saturday (12.12.09) was yet another of my tiring escapades. Sunday Shooters celebrated their first Christmas Party at the Lancaster Hotel. The theme was white christmas and the photographers went there in their best white attires (though there are some who didnt, too!Haha)

Janis prepared the food and everything (this is for real!) is SUPERB! I couldnt even keep coming back (Lol!). But since they were only just a few of us, there were so many food left. The next thing we knew, we were stuffing our bags with packed food.

Aftermath? Oh yes. this is something we didnt miss and wouldnt have. Shale's house welcomed us with open doors as the guys continued the drinking session there. Still, a few bottles of vodka remain unopened when we went home at around 2 in the morning.

Uganda Debates Death Penalty for Gays

I was browsing on my facebook site when I happen to find a news about a bill proposal in Uganda stating that gays and homos could face lifetime imprisonment or worse, even death just because of their preferences.

Even landlords who rent rooms for gays or other sects and groups who abets or counsels another to engage in acts of homosexuality would also be punished. More like an accessory to the 'crime', as what I view it. Though, how offensive a 'crime' like this is, really?

It's bullshit. Quoting from someone who linked this news to his facebook site, this act is truly outrageous and there really is too much ignorance, hatred, discrimination and bigotry in this world. Murder, theft, perjury, rape and the likes are what I would call crimes but being gay and choosing how you would live your life is certainly NOT.

We are all human and this act is certainly not human. Each of us has a right to live, to be respected, be loved and be accepted no matter what our choices are as long as we do not aggravate anybody. There are some people who may be against with gays and they will always be there to condemn the rights of the homosexuals, but were they even hurt by these gay people? Aren't they biased on making their decisions and arent they generalizing the gay community just because of an experience that may have happened to them?

If this bill will pass, it will only promote hatred, fear, discrimination, humiliation; all directed towards the gay community. Do you think it's even right?

Advocacy Photographer's Christmas Party

Saturday night (12.05.09) was a total blast, the Advocacy photographer's celebrated their first Christmas as a group. The event was held at Lian's pre-school classroom, where we acted like toddlers, too.

We started by eating some nachos (the salsa dip tasted divine, courtesy of Lian herself), puto, pancit malabon (by birthday boy RB), and Sir Benj brought some cake, too. Games and raffle draws followed afterwards, I was able to take home the AP calendar (btw, it's being sold at 100php apiece, and proceeds will go to the education of indigenous youth-pm me here if you want to have your own :)) and a couple of key chains.

For a change, instead of gifts, we exchanged our best photos of the year. My best shot for the year was the one I shot during an activity for kids with cancer. One of the organizers of the event was shown tying the shoelaces of a cancer patient. The photos posted on the boards were gallery materials and mine looked plain in comparison, but the message it conveys is priceless (at least, for me..haha)

The whole affair ended at 5 in the morning, I was literally walking along the sidewalk with my eyes half-closed and listening to System of a Down to keep my senses awake. The moment I got to my room, I took off my shoes and headed straight to bed. I didn't even bother to wash my face.
